Like everything, Elon Musk buying Twitter may be perceived as good or bad depending on how one looks at it. 

For one thing, by purchasing Twitter, Elon Musk has inadvertently plunged hundreds more marketers into the cesspool of Twitter advertising. 

This means that after spending years trying to avoid using it, you’re likely going to be bombarded with Twitter ad options. This is because any major venture buy such as an acquisition or purchase has a strong ripple effect; making waves in seemingly unrelated industries.

Free Speech could also raise concerns for brand safety, though it could also make for more of an innovative platform where brands are forced to be more authentic. One might even project a social media platform that audiences visit simply to find out the “dirt” on specific companies they are interested in.

Is this something to fear?

We don’t think so. Twitter has already long been criticized for its somewhat toxic nature, which – if we’re being honest – any social media platform can embody. Besides, brand safety is relative anyway. 

So although many companies are already in talks of stopping advertising on twitter altogether, we wouldn’t be so quick to jump ship.
